Cycling with CP: How I got My Wheels Rolling – conference demonstration poster

Thanks for your interest in my demonstration poster, Cycling with CP: How I Got My Wheels Rolling, which I’m looking forward to exhibiting this Friday 6 March at the 13th Biennale Oceania Academy Conference in Hobart. The conference focuses on research and lived experiences of cerebral palsy and other childhood-onset disabilities.

My poster provides a snapshot of how I learned to cycle as an adult with cerebral palsy (CP).

Elsewhere on this blog, I write in detail about the impact cycling has had on my life – which has been absolutely transformative.

Here, I present a brief overview of my adaptive e- trike’s technical specs and what worked for me, alongside the barriers that prevented me from riding earlier. These include physical, attitudinal, equipment-related, and systemic factors, as well as the enablers that eventually helped get my wheels rolling.

Of course, everyone’s mobility needs are unique. This poster is not intended to be prescriptive.

My hope is that by reading my story, you might feel encouraged to explore cycling for yourself, in whatever way works for you!
